Who We Are
Bill & Ray’s was established in Oskaloosa, Iowa in 1957 by Bill Holmes and Raymond DeJong. The business originally serviced cars as well as larger, diesel-powered trucks and equipment. The two men also partnered in the Bill & Ray's Chrysler Dealership in Sigourney, Iowa. Bill and Ray worked together for many years before dividing their partnership. Ray continued with the car and truck repair service, while Bill carried on with the car dealership. Over time, Bill & Ray’s Auto Service grew to the point that it was necessary to eliminate the small auto repair and focus primarily on diesel engine and wrecker service. After 35 years of service, Ray retired in 1992 and handed the business over to his sons, Dennis and David. Under the management of the two young men, the company expanded greatly over the next 25 years. In 2010, as a result of the company's growth, Bill & Ray's moved from their 9th Avenue East facility to the much larger, new facility on Highway 23. Sadly, Dennis died in 2017 at the age of 63. David continues to run the family business with his son Matthew.
